Nikolaos Kourtessis - Sensei
Nikolaos (Nik) Kourtessis - Sensei:
Nik has trained for over fifteen years in Goju Ryu at Australian Goju Karate under Terry Carberry Sensei and his team of highly experienced instructors. Nik has also trained under Patrick Wong Sensei and under Hoban Wong Shihan, totaling over nineteen years in Goju Karate.
After two years of consistent training, Nik started teaching karate to kids as an assistant instructor. Just ten months later, Nik graded for and achieved his ShoDan-Ho (Black Belt) successfully. Nik then started teaching kids and teens and adults classes full-time.
Nik has now spent over 28 years independently studying other martial art styles such as Shotokan Karate, Taekwondo, Ninjutsu, Muay Thai, Xtreme Martial Arts, and recently Kobudō.
Nik has won and placed many times in several state and national tournaments including: Australian Karate Federation (AKF), National All Styles, (NAS), International Sport Karate Association (ISKA), Xtreme Martial Arts (XMA) and other numerous state and national tournaments and continues to do so.
Nik is a qualified and certified martial arts instructor. Nik has a:
- Current Working With Children Check.
- Completed a Level 2 first aid with St John Ambulance Australia.
- Diploma in I.T. networking (Cisco Packet Tracer - CCNA).
- Certifications in Apple macOS and iOS support.
Nik is the owner and head writer/artist of a online art and graphic novel company. Nik is also an actor and model that has appeared in Documentaries, Music Videos, Short and Feature Films, including a short role in the 2014 movie I, Frankenstein.
Nik continues to train and learn in different martial arts and coaching methods. Nik also works with many school and community groups across Victoria, including with Proactivity sports provider, teaching Karate and Self Defense, Cardio Fitness, Boxercise and Ninja Warrior, to people of all ages.
